Bando di concorso per il conferimento di due borse di studio per ricerche sui Papiri Ercolanesi
Art. 1. È indetto un concorso per titoli per il conferimento di due borse di studio per l’anno 2025.
Possono partecipare tutti coloro che siano in possesso di un diploma di laurea in discipline classiche
pre D.M. 509/99 ovvero di laurea specialistica/magistrale in discipline classiche (D.M. 509/99 e D.M.
270/2004). La partecipazione al concorso è aperta anche a candidati in possesso di titolo di studio
straniero equipollente. Le borse sono intitolate “Ministero della Cultura”.
Art. 2. Ciascuna borsa, dell’importo di € 24.000,00 (ventiquattromila/00) lordi, ha la durata dal 1°
gennaio al 31 dicembre 2025 ed è incompatibile con il godimento di altre borse di studio o altra attività
retribuita.
Art. 3. Le borse di studio saranno assegnate, con insindacabile giudizio, dal Centro Internazionale per
lo Studio dei Papiri Ercolanesi ‘Marcello Gigante’. Il tema di ricerca sarà stabilito in accordo con
l’Assemblea del Centro. I risultati della ricer,ca saranno pubblicati nelle «Cronache Ercolanesi».

dell’Università di provenienza del richiedente. La domanda e tutta la documentazione dovranno essere
in formato pdf.
Art. 6. I vincitori della borsa dovranno partecipare alle attività organizzate e promosse dal Centro e
presentare con cadenza regolare i risultati intermedi della propria ricerca.

Selection announcement for the awarding of two research scholarships on Herculaneum Papyri
Art. 1. A selection procedure is announced for the awarding of two scholarships for the year 2025. All
those holding a degree in classical disciplines prior to D.M. 509/99 5 or a master’s degree in classical
disciplines (D.M. 509/99 and 270/2004) may participate. Candidates holding an equivalent foreign
degree are also welcome to apply. The scholarships are entitled “Ministero della Cultura”.
Art. 2. Each scholarship, in the amount of € 24,000.00 (twenty-four thousand/00) gross, is valid from
January 1st to December 31st, 2025, and is incompatible with other scholarships or paid activities.
Art. 3. The scholarships will be awarded, with unquestionable judgment, by the Centro Internazionale
per lo Studio dei Papiri Ercolanesi ‘Marcello Gigante’. The research topic will be determined in
agreement with CISPE’s Assembly. Research results will be published in the «Cronache Ercolanesi»
journal.

1. Allgemeine Angaben zum Stipendium:
Die Rink-Stiftung schreibt Stipendien zur Vergabe an interne und auswärtige
Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen und Nachwuchswissenschaftler aus zur Vorbereitung insbesondere von Drittmittelanträgen und Projekten an den oben genannten Professuren.
Die Stipendien werden für die Dauer von 12 Monaten für exzellente Promovierte aus den
Altertumswissenschaften (Alte Geschichte, Gräzistik, Klassische Archäologie, Latinistik) zur
Vorbereitung eines antragsfähigen Drittmittelprojekts gewährt. Auf Antrag und unter bestimmten
Voraussetzungen ist eine Verlängerung der Stipendienzeit von bis zu 6 Monaten möglich.
Die Höhe des Stipendiums ist angelehnt an die jeweils gültigen DFG-Sätze für Promovierte (aktuell
1.750,- € Grundbetrag zuzüglich einem eventuellem Kinderzuschlag). Der Sachkostenzuschuss ist beim Stipendium der Rink-Stiftung - für die gesamte Laufzeit von 12 Monaten – allerdings begrenzt auf insgesamt maximal 1.250,- €.
2. Anforderungen an das Projekt:
2.1 Das Projekt eröffnet berechtigte Chancen auf ein größeres Drittmittelprojekt an einer der
beteiligten Abteilungen (Alte Geschichte, Gräzistik, Klassische Archäologie, Latinistik) der JLU,
welches in der Laufzeit der Förderung vorbereitet und eingereicht wird. Die perspektivischen
Chancen auf die Einwerbung eines solchen Projekts und auch das Volumen des Projekts sind
zentrale Vergabekriterien.
2.2 Das Projekt bietet exzellente Forschung, mit der die Sichtbarkeit des Instituts für
Altertumswissenschaften universitär und über die JLU hinaus verstärkt wird.
2.3 Das Projekt soll interdisziplinär altertumswissenschaftlich angelegt sein und der
altertumswissenschaftlichen Forschungskooperation dienen.

Projekt: In Projektskizze und Arbeitsplan sollen das geplante Förderformat reflektiert und erkennbar
werden, in welchen Schritten das Projekt zur Antragsreife gebracht werden soll.
Grundsätzlich ist es möglich, dass ein Teil der Arbeiten während der Stipendienzeit mobil erbracht
wird. Um die Zeit auch für die Vernetzung und den Austausch vor Ort zu nutzen, ist eine tageweise
Präsenz an der JLU erforderlich. Die konkrete Ausgestaltung, wie z.B. blockweise Anwesenheiten,
bedarf dann einer konkreten Absprache vor Ort. Bitte teilen Sie uns in Ihrem Bewerbungsschreiben
Ihre Vorstellungen dazu mit.
4. Entscheidung über vorliegende Anträge:
Die mögliche Anzahl von Stipendien ist abhängig vom Stiftungsertrag. Über die Vergabe von Stipendien entscheidet das Kuratorium der Stiftung zeitnah nach Ablauf der Bewerbungsfrist; ein Rechtsanspruch auf Gewährung eines Stipendiums besteht nicht.
Das Kuratorium entscheidet ebenso über eventuelle Anträge auf Verlängerung; ein Rechtsanspruch auf eine Verlängerung des Stipendiums über 12 Monate hinaus besteht nicht.

In collaboration with the department of the Classics at Harvard, The Harvard Center for Hellenic Studies, Washington, DC, is pleased to announce a one-year postdoctoral fellowship on the theme of "Classics pedagogy for access and diversity", with the possibility of renewal for a second year. The position is open to applicants in any field of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies who received their Ph.D. degree no earlier than May 1st 2021. This is a combined research and teaching postdoctoral fellowship. A demonstrated strong commitment to teaching is crucial, as is the ability to capture the interest of a diverse student body. We particularly seek applicants who have shown a commitment to Greek and Latin pedagogy and to making the discipline of Classics accessible to students from under-represented backgrounds. Familiarity and critical engagement with scholarship on inclusive pedagogy, classical reception studies, academic writing, and professional development are highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate some familiarity with high school and college education in the U.S.
The appointment is expected to begin on June 1st, 2024. This position entails a commitment to serve as the academic program director for the "Scholars in Training" summer program in the department of the Classics at Harvard, which is now entering its fourth year. This role includes coordinating the program, leading educational workshops and reading groups, supporting instructors, and mentoring students. The program runs for seven weeks, from mid-June to the first week of August. The fellow will receive an additional stipend to cover accommodation and cost of living expenses in Cambridge, MA, for the duration of the summer program and will also have access to an office in the Classics department while directing the program. It may also be possible to teach ancient Greek or Latin for Harvard's summer school, with an additional salary paid by the Harvard Summer School. Planning for the summer school will entail ca. 35 hours of administrative work between the months of November and May in coordination with the Department of the Classics at Harvard. In the Fall and Spring semesters, the fellow will be in residence at the CHS in Washington and will pursue their own research.
Fellowships include a salary, housing at the CHS, and subsidized health insurance. The starting salary will be $67,600 with additional support (up to $4,000) for professional travel and other research expenses. The CHS will also assist with the fellow's travel expenses to and from Washington. The fellow will have full access to the resources of the Harvard library system for the duration of the fellowship.

The British School at Athens invites applications for the A.G. Leventis Fellowship in Hellenic Studies. The Fellowship, funded by the A.G. Leventis Foundation, is tenable at post-doctoral level to support research into the anthropology, archaeology, architecture, arts, environment, geography, history, language, literature, religion and topography of Greece and Cyprus, and related areas, from prehistory to the late 19th century/ early 20th century. The Fellowship is tenable for three years from 1 October 2024 or shortly thereafter.
The A.G. Leventis Fellowship represents an important strengthening of the intellectual life of the BSA and of its relations with Greece and Cyprus. The BSA is looking for candidates of the highest potential who will make best use of the opportunity for a prolonged period of research in Greece. If the Fellow is not fluent in Greek or if the Fellow’s native language is other than English, it is essential that they become fluent within six months of taking up the Fellowship.
The A.G. Leventis Fellow will be expected to take a leading role in the life and work of the BSA. Teaching and other duties will be agreed with the Director at the beginning of each academic year. The Fellow will be expected to give one seminar per year and one public lecture during the term of the Fellowship. The Fellow may be asked to participate in courses taught by the BSA, and they may undertake a small amount of outside teaching with the approval of the Director. It is expected that the Fellow will take a lively interest in the research of BSA Students.
Normally the Fellow will be expected to have satisfied all the requirements for their doctorate no more than five years and at least three months before taking up the post.
Past Leventis Fellows have included Professor Dr Marina Terkourafi (2002-05) now professor and chair of Sociolinguistics at Leiden University; Dr Matthew Haysom (2006-08) now Lecturer in Archaeology in Newcastle University; Dr Evi Margaritis (20009-11) now Associate Professor at the Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Center of the Cyprus Institute and Dr Irini Avramopoulou (2015-2018) now Assistant Professor in Social Anthropology in the Panteion University of Athens.
Applicants should submit:
• a letter of application (including an explanation of why the proposed research should be undertaken in Greece)
• CV
• a research proposal (1,500 words maximum)
• a writing sample of no more than 8,000 words (normally a thesis chapter or published article)
• The names and email addresses of two referees, who will be requested to submit their letters of reference by Friday 10 May 2024.
Interviews have provisionally been scheduled for early June 2024.
The salary will be €28,000 per annum. In addition, the BSA offers health insurance and can provide continuity of any pre-existing USS pension scheme. The BSA will pay for travel to Athens at the commencement of the Fellowship, up to €350 for one return journey home per year thereafter, and for return travel at the end of the Fellowship. The BSA will also offer research expenses (to include travel, attending conferences, preparation of or obtaining research materials, etc.) of up to €1,750 per year. The Fellow should apply to the Director for any such grants in advance.
The Fellow will be expected to have an affiliation with a UK university (such as a previous degree, post or working relationship). Where possible, Fellows will continue their UK affiliation for the duration of the Leventis Fellowship and if necessary, the BSA will help to negotiate this. They must submit a report each May to the Director for forwarding to the BSA’s Council and the A.G. Leventis Foundation on the year’s work. In the first year, during which the appointment will be probationary, the Fellow should also submit an interim report in March.
The A.G. Leventis Fellow will acknowledge the BSA and the Fellowship in all publications resulting from tenure of the post.
Fellows are encouraged to reside in the Hostel in the first instance.

In collaboration with the foundation PLuS, the Chair of Latin Literature regularly advertises the Basel Fellowships in Latin Literature. The Visiting Fellowship Programme offers an opportunity for early career researchers as well as established scholars to pursue their research in the framework of a fully funded research stay of up to three months at the Department Altertumswissenschaften of the University of Basel. During their stay, Fellows are entitled to make full use of the excellent resources of the University Library as well as the departmental library, Bibliothek Altertumswissenschaften, one of the world’s leading research libraries for the study of the ancient Mediterranean cultures and Graeco-Roman literature.
Visiting Fellows are expected to present a paper on their research project, and they are invited (but not obliged) to participate in the various research colloquia and other events at the Departement Altertumswissenschaften. The Fellowship’s main objective is to offer Fellows a period of exclusive research time.
The Programme’s Scientific Board evaluates applications and appoints Fellows.
